Loneliness is the worst
Isolation shows up in many forms, including shame, stress, mistrust, and unproductive conflict. It is an act of radical commitment to recognize when we have fallen into patterns that hold us back from emotional, intellectual and physical connection.
How I Work
People grow and heal in the context of secure relationships, and I aim to help clients create and sustain them. I specialize in treating couples and individuals dealing with emotional and sexual disconnection, trauma, and communication issues.
I'm a sex-positive therapist. I'm LGBTQIA-allied, kink-aware, and poly-friendly. I strive to empower clients to heal from and dismantle racist, ableist, and heteronormative structures. I'm a licensed clinical social worker (NCSWCLB, #C015896).
I have worked as a therapist, group facilitator and advocate for:
Individuals, couples and partnerships, and families in relational distress
Survivors of trauma and torture, including intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse, and human trafficking
Parents of children who have experienced trauma
Parents experiencing postpartum mood disorders
Individuals who have experienced rejection by parents or faith communities
People who struggle with identity development, including affectional orientation and gender and gender expression
Teens coping with chronic stress through behaviors that interfere with their goals
I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). My work is also informed by the Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Discernment Counseling. My approach is trauma-informed and aligned with Health at Every Size (HAES).
I conduct therapy in English, but can converse in Spanish.
